PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to outline the principles and policy statements governing the Foundations support to local non-profit organizations and community advocates who actively work to improve the well-being of communities through social services, development initiatives, and community programs.
This policy establishes a framework to ensure that the Foundation’s support is provided in a transparent, fair and consistent manner while promoting initiatives that create meaningful and sustainable impact within communities.
SCOPE
The Foundation may provide support in the following ways:
- Financial assistance or grants;
- Collaboration on community projects;
- Promotion and visibility for community initiatives; and
- Strategic partnerships for social impact programs.
EGIBILITY CRITERIA
Organizations or individuals seeking support must:
- Be actively involved in community development or social impact work;
- Demonstrate a clear benefit to the local community;
- Operate with transparency and accountability
- Be a registered non-profit organization or a recognized community leader with a verifiable track record of service; and
- Align with the mission and values of the Caymanians First Charitable Foundation.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applicants seeking support must submit a formal online application request or proposal outlining:
- Background of the organization or community leader;
- Description of the project or initiative;
- Expected community impact; and
- Budget or support required.
Applications will be evaluated by the Foundation’s partnership review committee based on:
- Community impact
- Sustainability
- Alignment with foundation goals
- Feasibility of the initiative
SCREENING AND DUE DILIGENCE
As a part of the Foundation’ commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible partnerships, all non-profits’ organizations and community advocates applying for support will be subject to background and due diligence screening.
The Foundation will conduct screening using recognized compliance and risk assessment platforms such as World Check or similar systems, to identify any negative media, sanctions, reputational risks, or regulatory alerts associated with the applicant. This screening process is intended to ensure that the Foundation only partners with organizations and individuals who demonstrate integrity, ethical conduct, and alignment with the Foundation’s values.
APPROVAL AND FUNDING
- 1. Approved initiatives will receive support based on available resources and the strategic priorities of the Foundation.
- 2. All approved recipients may be required to sign a partnership or funding agreement outlining responsibilities and expectations.
ACCOUNTABILITY AND REPORTING
Recipients of support will be required to:
- Provide progress updates or reports
- Demonstrate how funds or resources were used
- Share measurable outcomes or impact within the community
Failure to meet reporting requirements may affect eligibility for future support.
TRANSPARENCY AND ETHICS
The Foundation is committed to fairness, transparency, and ethical practices in all partnerships and funding decisions. Any conflict of interest must be disclosed during the review and approval process.
POLICY REVIEW
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains effective and aligned with the foundation’s mission and community needs.
